ALICE, An Operatic Wonderland is an adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s beloved book, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. A nonsensical, heartwarming, coming-of-age, operatic adventure that invites audiences into a wildly imaginative world of discovery. This new American Opera is a reimagination of Carroll’s story with a fresh and relevant message around the importance of identity. Throughout the opera, the characters challenge Alice by asking: "Who are you?" Alice finds herself struggling to answer this question. After multiple encounters with seemingly nonsensical characters who tell her she “doesn’t belong,” that question “what value she brings,” and seek to trap her in a never-ending world of madness, Alice finds herself feeling lost and alone. Her journey down the rabbit hole eventually leads to an outlandish trial and the realization that in a world of constant judgement, ridicule, and uncertainty that she is "enough".
